Mexico, Nov. 11 (Notimex).- Scientists from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN, for its acronym in Spanosh) develop content, materials and strategies to bring science concepts to children, especially in physics, beyond the field of dissemination, for which they are trained to teachers. In a statement, the IPN indicated that the above is an academic contribution to the incorporation of science in early childhood, in which the current requirement at the preschool level is 13 percent, equivalent to 83 hours per year. It stressed that the project "Evaluation of the different formative fields in the preschool level before the development of skills and attitudes for science standards" is part of the Sectoral Fund for Research for the Evaluation of Education of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt, for its acronym in Spanish) and the National Institute for Educational Evaluation (INEE, for its acronym in Spanish). Led by Dr. Mario Humberto Ramírez Díaz, specialists of the Center for Research in Applied Science and Advanced Technology (CICATA, for its acronym in Spanish), Legaria Unit, land, in a playful and experiential way, topics such as density changes, magnetism, states of matter, electrical circuits , refraction of light, thermodynamics, even theory of relativity. Through postgraduate courses of Master and Doctorate in Educational Physics, academics contribute to the training of preschool teachers in the field of sciences, so that they acquire the theoretical-practical methodological tools to replicate the knowledge in infants in the Formative field Exploration and Knowledge of the World. Ramirez Diaz indicated that the synergy with the educators who are pursuing the doctorate and the master's degree in CICATA has fruit in the elaboration of the didactic sequences and the evaluation standards. "It has been very satisfactory, because we as experts have had to land and be very specific with the physics that the children can carry, and they, as pedagogues, have had to adapt it to the language and characteristics of the children," he said. The academic of CICATA Legaria emphasized that another positive aspect has been that by introducing notions of science in childhood, preschool teachers have realized that it has an impact, not only in the area of Exploration and Knowledge of the World, also in the training fields of Language and Communication, Mathematical Thought, Physical Development and Health, as well as Personal and Social Development. As a result of this research, the training of trainers workshop has been conducted in which 30 teachers have been trained to replicate the knowledge in their communities. In January, another workshop is planned for CICATA Legaria. "What we want is for physics to help us develop skills and for children to lose their fear of science," concluded Ramirez Díaz.
