China has famously used its cuddly panda bears as a diplomatic tool, but to mark warming ties with Japan it is offering a distinctly more angular gift: two crested ibises. Visiting Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang signed a deal Wednesday to deliver a pair of the birds when he met with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe. "I announce we will provide Japan with a pair of ibises to express the friendship of the Chinese people towards Japanese people," Li said.
