More About This Show:Omar Zenhom is a teacher through and through. He worked in the education field as an ESL teacher (English as a Second Language) and he spent 10 years living and teaching ESL in Dubai.
But throughout his teaching career he was always interested in entrepreneurship. If he wasn't reading about it, he was hustling on the side to see what business would work and testing his mettle to see if he had what it takes to be a full-time entrepreneur.
It wasn't until fairly recently that he made the leap into entrepreneurship with The $100 MBA company. The brand began back in 2013 and his podcast was launched in the fall of 2014. Today it stands as one of the top-rated podcasts in all of iTunes.
On this episode we talk about his "late entry" into podcasting, how his lack of business experience became an asset and why it's never too late to go after what you want in business or in life in general.
When Omar began his podcast he knew he had to differentiate himself from the rest of the crowd. But instead of reinventing himself he leaned on his background and his knowledge: teaching. He and his fiance Nicole spent two months brainstorming, planning and organizing before the launch of The $100 MBA.
One of the most important he makes is they planned for the long haul. They weren't looking at this as a short-term gain but a long-term legacy and that's what made them so successful.
Another important aspect of their success is their strategy for connecting and providing for their audience. If you're wondering what to give your audience Omar has some questions you can ask yourself such as "How can I delight people?" "If this were my mom (or other loved one) how would I be giving to him or her?" And then create your content and your marketing strategy based on that.
As Omar points out no one cares about what you know (or are providing) until they know how much you care. When you come from that mindset - whether it's in business or other relationships - you have a greater chance of creating real, genuine relationships that benefit everyone.
We also discuss how to set your own level of achievement and how to know what to focus on first when starting a business. Big thanks to Omar for sharing his experiences on those topics and thanks to you for being here. We'll see you next time on The Art of Charm!
