Architecture student from UNAM wins Landscaping PrizeMexico, Oct. 7 (Notimex).- The student of architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM, for its acronym in Spanish), Angel Hernandez Martinez won the International Prize "Carlos Pellegrino", aimed at students from any corner of the world who submit proposals for revaluation from space. In a statement, it was specified that the winning project was "Educational Landscape", which was carried out within the study object of the contest that included the "Benito Solari" park, in the city of Salto, north of Montevideo, Uruguay. It was explained that the approach of the university aims to return the value to the landscape patrimony of the chosen site, through architectural elements that were already there. Hernandez Martinez indicated that in order to carry out his project he used elements that were already on the site: "Many of them were together, so I distributed them throughout the garden so that people have this collective memory in mind ... The landscape is not only the plant or environmental elements, also the cultural ones, on which my receptional work will focus ". The contest gave Hernandez Martinez guidelines to address another project in Mexico City. During his stay of international mobility at the University of the Republic of Uruguay, the student of the ninth semester of Landscape Architecture learned of the call for the second edition of the award, and postulated his proposal. Back in Mexico he learned of his triumph. Angel Hernandez commented that he did not expect it, since there were many participants from Latin America and Europe, and he commented that Argentina won the second place and Uruguay the third: "They were teams of three to four members, and I applied for the job alone". "I sought to enhance the architectural and cultural elements, in conjunction with the landscape of Uruguay, I undertook mixtures of vegetation, because that country has the four seasons very marked. My project also rests in the temporary part, an important factor," he explained. Currently, he performs his social service at the Children's Psychiatric Hospital "Dr. Juan N. Navarro", with an interdisciplinary project to create "therapeutic gardens". The International Prize "Carlos Pellegrino" is sponsored by different institutions linked to the landscape, such as the International Federation of Landscape Architects of the Americas, the Latin American Landscape Initiative LALI, and the universities of Milan, Autonomous Metropolitan Azcapotzalco (UAM, for its acronym in Spanish) and the Republic of Uruguay. This award is organized in memory of Carlos Pellegrino (1944-2015), landscaper, agronomist, doctor of architecture, writer, art critic, poet and Uruguayan musician.  NTX/ERM/HHMNTX/ERM/HHM/BBF
